The Journey Begins

Thanks for joining me

Exactly two years ,when I graduated from university of Sierra Leone . It was not an easy academic journey ,i enjoy life as a student in university.

After taking my WAEC( West Africa Examination Council ) exams in senior school ,i went for my certificate and diploma course in building and civil engineering .

I was at the Milton Margia college of Education and Technology in the year 2011,during my certificate course i served as the deputy chairlady for Student’s Muslim Association.I served not only as a devoted Muslim but also a Muslim woman with leadership qualities at the age of 18 years old. Upon completion i gain entrance into university of Sierra Leone ( IPAM) .

At IPAM ,I had my full university four years experience ,i dedicated my time in studies at the university library and gain very good GPA to enter into my second year in university .The second year in university GPA grades normally determine whether a student will enter into a honors class or general class .It was not an easy task for me ,because i have switched over course from been an engineering student in building and civil to a computer science student . Nevertheless ,that was never an excuse for me, though it was not easy i was still invited into honors class with a GPA above 3 point . Only three female students were invited to honors class including myself.

Fourth year ,which is normally referred to as final year ,was basically focus on our internship and dissertation writing. I was fortunate to have done my internship at NASSIT as a biometric staff ,the experience was great .Having first experience as a employee with hands on biometric technology equipments for pensioners.

For dissertation ( thesis)writing it was a sad and delightful experience ,we were four in team but sadly i did 80% for the thesis . Since i was the committed type it never bothered me ,as most of my team members abandoned the thesis ,only to join me close to completion . I saw it as an advantage because that taught me to be independent in carrying out task for the work force( job) . After defending our thesis we scored “B” and that actually helped me in gaining my second class first division as female computer science graduate .

I was not only dedicated to studies but also part of Student Representative Council (SRC) . A lot of social activities were organize by this council to raise funds for the newly constructed IPAM building ,fortunately i was the Minister Of Education . There was an alarm rate of university malpractice ,in my capacity as Minister Of Education, I helped the university of Sierra Leone in a two days conference at Bank Complex (Kingtom) on the awareness of examination malpractice .During the conference i made a remarkable speech on behalf of my university on how to track down exams malpractice , it was a remarkable day in my life ,as my speech was recorded in the university archive for integrity .

Life as a student in university was sweet and bitter ,but it was well appreciated on graduation day with our colorful neatly dressed gowns to mark the end of our first degree journey .
